S.A.F.E., Inc. (Shelter & Assistance in Family Emergencies) is a non-profit organization offering hope and healing to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and those facing financial insecurity or homelessness. Established in 1979 and rooted in Tupelo, we provide comprehensive support services across 9 counties in Northeast Mississippi, including emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, and education, to help survivors rebuild their lives and regain independence. Guided by Executive Director Dr. Zowee Shanks and a Board of Directors, our inclusive services are available to men, women, and their dependents without discrimination. We offer housing assistance, crisis intervention, court advocacy, and community education to raise awareness and prevent violence. Our Safe Havens for Pets Program ensures that pets receive care and shelter during times of crisis. Our goal is to help individuals feel safe, supported, and able to sustain their well-being. We continually strive to expand our services to meet the growing needs of our community, working toward a future where everyone can thrive.
